Dabei sind die beiden Singstimmen allerdings in der Komposition insgesamt nach oben hin &#8222;verschoben&#8220;. Der lateinische Text, der auf das Konzil von Nic\u00e4a (325) zur\u00fcckgeht, hatte seinen Platz lange in der Liturgie der Taufe. Die Interpretation als \u201eGeist-Seele-Dialog\u201c mag vielleicht auch von daher sinnvoll erscheinen und kennzeichnet die Vertonung des lateinischen Textes hier als ein auf den einzelnen Menschen bezogenes Bekenntnis. Die Paarigkeit der Singstimmen wiederholt sich bei den beiden Orgeln, l\u00e4sst aber im unterschiedlichen Wesen und der Verwendung der beiden Instrumente auch einen Bruch im Gef\u00fcge erkennen. Musikalische Grundlage der Komposition sind zwei canti-firmi: der erste eine Folge aus 264 T\u00f6nen und der andere eine zweistimmige Intervallreihe (mit einem wiederkehrenden Muster in parallelen Quinten). Auf der Intervallreihe basieren die beiden Singstimmen, die in eine zuvor ausgearbeitete, eher \u201eerz\u00e4hlende\u201c musikalische Ebene, eingef\u00fcgt sind. Dieser Montage entspricht ein das h\u00e4ufig wechselnde Tempo, w\u00e4hrend die Harmonik durch die Intervallkombinationen von Tritoni und Quinten bestimmt ist.
